
Philip Hall
Philip Hall is a life-long native of rust-belt Northeast Ohio. He earned a BSBA from Youngstown State University in 2014, and has a background in marketing and management within the restaurant/retail, economic development, athletics, and non-profit industries. He enjoys sports, traveling with his wife, Rita, and hiking with his dog, Odysseus.

Matt Melito
Matt Melito was born and raised in Youngstown, OH. He graduated from Youngstown State University with a BA in Psychology in 2016, and has capitalized on his degree by working as a barista and sommelier, most recently in the city of Portland, OR. He enjoys traveling, reading non-fiction, playing acoustic guitar, long walks with his dog, Barley, and living in states that begin with the letter O.
Matt stepped down from regular co-hosting duties in March of 2022.
The Dogs of History’s B-Side
We love our dogs, but to be honest, they don’t really pull their weight when it comes to research and editing. But they’re cute and make noise in the background, so we thought you might want to see them.
Odysseus (“Ody” – left) is a pit/boxer mix. Barley (right) is a border collie mix. Both are rescue dogs from local shelters.
